Fall Into Style with Briarcliff

Fashion is a personal art. For most of us, looking like we stepped off the runway in New York is a silly idea; we want to combine trends with original pieces that express who we truly are. Owner Dawn Gore of Amelia’s Boutique has stressed time and again the importance of finding your own style. “We are boutiques here at Briarcliff,” she says. “Our clothes are original. They turn around very quickly. But that means you won’t find everyone else in town wearing the same outfit.”

As Fall 2012 approaches, and many of us gear up for “back to school” shopping (whether we’re actually in school or not), the fashion experts of Briarcliff are making sure their customers know what’s in style. But best of all, each merchant does it with a special, unique flair. So you can find the boutique that’s uniquely you.

Below are a few sample images from Amelia’s Fall 2012 Look Book. With it, we’ve provided some tips on what you can expect to see local fashionistas sporting come September. But this is only the beginning. Be sure to check our website for upcoming stories on other boutiques.

Fall Trends 2012

1. Red Light, Go. Forget basic black and go for crimson as the staple color of fall.

2. Ethnic Adventure. Exotic prints remain popular for yet another year, so find your sense of adventure.

3. Vintage Jewelry. It’s not going out of style anytime soon.

4. Solid Gold. Metallic bags are worth their weight.

5. Hand Me My Leather. Jackets are key, but the very bold will sport it from head to toe.

6. Bright Pants. Colors are the bottom line.

7. Cowboy Couture. No, you won’t find boots at New York Fashion Week. But this is Kansas City. Celebrate your one-of-a-kind style.

Girls’ Night Out at the Sidewalk Sale

Amelia’s Boutique is known for fun and fashion, offering a distinctly local take on the latest runway looks. In fact, the store regularly hosts events to help Kansas City fashionistas transition through the seasons. This week during the Sidewalk Sale, as summer merchandise makes way for fall, Amelia’s announces a “Girls’ Night Out” to help you update your closet.

The event begins Thursday night, July 19, at 5 p.m., and will include a sneak peek at Fall trends for 2012. “Girls” of all ages can enjoy drinks, treats, and special discounts for one night only.

“What’s great about Amelia’s is that you won’t find a million other people wearing our clothes,” says Owner Dawn Gore. “People shop here because they want to stand out. We also like to treat our customers like one-of-a-kind.”

Among the VIP deals offered during Girls’ Night Out are 50% off denim shorts and capris and buy one top, get one 25% off. A variety of other “back to school” offers will be available. And throughout the Sidewalk Sale, Amelia’s summer collection will be priced as low as $10-$30 per item.

“This is your guide to fall fashion,” says Gore. “Come join us to sip, shop and save!”

Fashion Blossoms at Amelia’s

Let’s face it: you don’t really need an excuse to shop. But warmer weather definitely makes a compelling case for a wardrobe upgrade. If you’re on a mission to shed your winter layers in favor of the new seasonal trends, here are some of the latest looks from Amelia’s, one of the trendiest boutiques we know. And if you like these highlights, be sure to check out the store and peruse their full spring collection.

Bright colors and chunky jewelry are the talk of the season. (We especially love the purple-and-black dress with contrasting yellow belt. It doesn’t get any bolder than that!) Textures are mixed together and layered on each other for a unique effect: metal accessories, straw bags and hats, denim with lightweight cotton, etc. Another great example of this is the popularity of knits, in everything from dresses to shrugs:

This one layers with a springy floral top in the most flattering way, complemented by the right belt and bold necklace. You’ll find a lot of these combinations at Amelia’s right now, and pretty much anywhere that’s on the cutting edge of trends.

And if you’re wondering about accessories …

Bold, vintage pieces with lots of sparkle, platform wedges, and daring colors and patterns will finish off your spring look. (The turquoise bag with the bird in the center? The gorgeous shade of red summer wedges on the left? We want!)

The staff at Amelia’s do a fantastic job of putting together creative, flattering outfits. So don’t hesitate to go in and start browsing things you like. After all, it is spring … time for a trendy new you!
